South Yard Square has opened in Titanic Quarter along Belfast’s Maritime Mile, creating a new community space where people can play, relax and spend quality time together.
Delivered as part of the Loftlines development, the new public realm brings together three key elements – a children’s play park, 3×3 basketball court and landscaped spaces – adding to Titanic Quarter’s growing provision of public spaces and outdoor amenities.
At the heart of the play park, a large ship-themed play structure has dropped anchor for children to explore and enjoy. The adjoining 3×3 basketball court provides a free outdoor space to get active, while landscaped areas offer somewhere to sit, meet and unwind.
South Yard Square forms part of the new public realm surrounding the Loftlines development and extends the area’s waterside promenade, strengthening connections with the Maritime Mile and creating another welcoming place for the growing Titanic Quarter community to enjoy.
Over the coming months, the new public realm will also play an important role in integrating further leisure, crèche and retail spaces at Loftlines into the wider Titanic Quarter, creating stronger connections between the new residential community and the surrounding area.

“The kids have really taken to it. It’s brilliant to see them climbing aboard the pirate ship, running around and making up their own games together. It’s been a massive hit with them, and there’s a real buzz around the place when they’re out playing.
