A breath-taking performance by Rock Choir members at Northern Ireland’s iconic Giant’s Causeway has become a global viral sensation, amassing over 10 million views across social media platforms following a resurgence on St Patrick’s Day.
Originally filmed on Sunday 14th September, the performance saw more than 500 Rock Choir singers unite at the UNESCO-listed landmark to deliver a powerful rendition of ‘Dreams’. Now, months later, the video has captured the hearts of a worldwide audience after being reshared by Rock Choir, igniting an extraordinary wave of international attention.
The viral moment has drawn high-profile recognition, including a like from music icon Annie Lennox and a share by The Cranberries themselves, the legendary Irish band behind the song. The performance has also received global media exposure, including a feature on the Today Programme in the United States.
With comments pouring in from across Brazil, Mexico, Europe and beyond, the video has struck a deep emotional chord, with viewers praising its uplifting spirit, the power of community singing and the stunning Irish landscape.
Part of the video’s magic lies in its authenticity. Filmed in true Irish conditions, the singers braved the elements, performing through wind and rain in one of the wettest seasons in recent memory. After months of near constant rain since Christmas, the arrival of brighter skies around St Patrick’s Day has only added to the story’s resonance.
Audiences have fallen in love with the contrast: a joyful, smiling choir singing their hearts out against a dramatic, rain swept coastal backdrop. It stands as a powerful tribute to The Cranberries, while showcasing Ireland in all its raw and natural beauty.
The viral success has transformed ‘Dreams’ into an unofficial anthem for Rock Choir’s Irish members, offering a powerful and uplifting good news story that is resonating worldwide. Since launching in Northern Ireland three years ago, and more recently expanding into Dublin and surrounding areas, Rock Choir has grown rapidly, building a vibrant and inclusive community of over 1,000 singers across the island.
The video’s global reach has accelerated this momentum, showcasing not only musical excellence but also the powerful community, friendship and sense of belonging at the heart of the Rock Choir experience. The original performance at the Giant’s Causeway marked a historic moment, believed to be the largest choir ever to perform at the site, and the first to film there. Set against the dramatic coastal backdrop, the video is both a visual and musical celebration of Ireland’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Edward Mason, General Manager of the Giant’s Causeway, said:
“The heartfelt rendition of Dreams left our team absolutely speechless. The atmosphere was nothing short of magical.”
For participants, the event was a once in a lifetime experience. Now, thanks to its viral success, that moment is being shared on a global stage.
