New sustainability and hospitality categories have been announced at the official launch of the 2026 Belfast Chamber Business Awards, delivered in partnership with Bank of Ireland.
Now in its 11th year, the awards programme continues to grow, with 18 diverse categories reflecting the breadth and dynamism of Belfast’s business community. Entries are now open, with the closing date set for Friday 28th August 2026.
The two new categories introduced this year – Excellence in Sustainability and the Independent Hospitality Award – reflect the increasing importance of sustainability leadership and the strength of Belfast’s independent hospitality sector. They sit alongside established favourites such as Best New Business, Employee of the Year, and Business Leader of the Year.
Clare Guinness, CEO of Belfast Chamber, commented:
“Each year, the Belfast Chamber Business Awards continue to grow in both scale and impact, and 2026 is no exception. With 18 categories, including two new additions that reflect evolving priorities across sustainability and the independent hospitality sector, the awards are a powerful platform to showcase the very best of Belfast business.
“These awards are about recognising the organisations and individuals that are driving our city forward – those who are innovating, creating opportunities, and contributing to a thriving local economy. I would encourage businesses of all sizes and from all sectors to enter and share their success stories.”
The awards were officially launched at a special event at Belfast’s Grand Central Station, hosted by Cool FM presenter Pete Snodden. The celebration brought together a host of previous winners and members of the local business community to officially open entries for this year’s awards.
Paul McClurg, Head of Belfast Business Banking at Bank of Ireland UK, added:
“Bank of Ireland is proud to continue our successful partnership with the Belfast Chamber Business Awards, in the 11th year of the awards.
“It is over 200 years since Bank of Ireland opened its first branch in Belfast. We have been supporting local customers, businesses and communities here since 1825. While there have been many economic and societal changes over that time, our commitment to supporting Belfast business, entrepreneurship and enterprise is as important now as ever.
“With much to celebrate in business right across Belfast, I encourage local businesses across all sectors to enter and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to showcase you and your team’s talents, achievements and ambition.”
Last year’s ceremony highlighted the calibre of talent across the city, with Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. Brendan McDowell, Director at BPerfect Cosmetics, was named Business Leader of the Year, while Options IT and HNH Partners were recognised as Best Company to Work For (Large) and (Small) respectively.
Each year, the Belfast Chamber Business Awards also support a local charity, helping to make a meaningful impact beyond the business community. This year, funds raised will go to Foodstock, a charity dedicated to tackling poverty and empowering individuals and families across communities in Belfast.
