Spirit AeroSystems is one of Northern Ireland’s largest manufacturers and inward investors.  Our presence in the region spans over 100 years and we have a rich history of aviation innovation, with key engineering, manufacturing, testing, and research & development (R&D) capabilities.

We employ around 3,600 across our sites in Belfast, Dunmurry, Newtownabbey and Newtownards, a high percentage of whom are skilled aerostructure engineers and operatives delivering world-leading products for global export.  We support high value jobs and skills through the development of new disruptive technologies, supported by a strong local supply chain.

Our operation has engineering and technology leadership in advanced materials and ultra-light structures, and specialises in the design, test, manufacture, assembly and after-market support of complex composite and metallic aerostructures.  Our products include fully integrated wings, aircraft fuselages, flight controls and engine nacelles, and our customers include Airbus, Bombardier and Rolls-Royce.

Our extensive expertise in advanced lightweight materials has been driven by significant investment in R&D and engineering skills and capabilities over many decades.  We are also utilising this expertise to develop lightweight and aerodynamically efficient products for more sustainable mobility solutions, including for application to space and defence programmes.
