Belfast International Airport is the principal gateway for Northern Ireland handling over 6 million passenger every year with further growth expected in 2023. Major airlines based at the airport include, easyJet, who will have eight aircraft based in Belfast flying to 30 destinations, Jet2.com providing leisure services right across Europe and TUI who alongside their traditional holiday destinations will also will operate new flights to Florida in 2023. 2023 will also see Ryanair opening a two aircraft base flying to 16 destinations across GB and Europe. Eastern Airlines will also start operations to Southampton in April 2023. This continued growth will see over 700 flights a week to GB destinations proving essential connectivity for business and leisure.
Belfast International Airport is also an important cargo hub, transporting 48,000 tonnes of mail and freight each year via major cargo operators such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, Royal Mail and Amazon. The airport site provides employment for up to 5000 across 200 companies.
