Belfast FM Ltd., trading as Belfast 89FM, has been broadcasting since 2015 and is a company limited by guarantee. The station licensed by OFCOM with a remit to serve the over 45s across the city and help combat social isolation. It also serves as a platform for participation in the community. The company has no employees and is operated and managed entirely by volunteers.

The main types of music broadcast over the course of each week are: nostalgia, classic hits and easy listening from the 1950s to the present day.
Specialist genres also feature.
The main types of speech output broadcast over the course of each week are: community information, interviews, advice and discussions.
The service provides original output for a minimum of 80 hours per week.

The signal footprint of Belfast 89FM on 89.3 MHz FM covers the Belfast City Council area and adjacent districts including Castlereagh, the Lisburn corridor, Dundonald and the coastal communities around Belfast Lough. We’ve thousands of listeners every week on 89.3FM and on-line; we’ve more than 12,600 followers on Facebook and over 219,000 people have visited our website since February 2019.

While 89.3FM is our main platform, online is increasingly becoming the way people are consuming radio, including our good selves! It is also measurable so we can use it as a barometer of listening numbers and listening hours. The vast majority of our listening is on FM around Belfast and we are available anywhere there is internet via our website, on radio apps (including TuneIn), through smart speakers and, of course, on our own app which is available for Android and Apple and has now over 1500 users!

We plan to be on DAB across Greater Belfast and the Lagan Valley in late September and this will increase our listener footprint by 50%. Our rates are very affordable for SMEs across the city and very competitive when compared to print media and social media campaigns. Our strength is that we can provide a solid, local promotional platform for businesses across the Greater Belfast area.
