The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious business awards.

The King’s Awards emblem is a mark of excellence that is recognised globally and can attract immediate and long-term business benefits.
There are now five categories for which businesses can apply:

- Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility)
- Young Founder – the new award recognising entrepreneurs aged 18-30
For the 2027 round, application forms for all categories have been updated and streamlined, making the process simpler for businesses to apply.

Ian Henry MBE

Ian Henry MBE is the CR Director at leading construction company, Henry Brothers, and Managing Director of Windell, Henry Brothers’ sister company. Ian is passionate about building on competitive advantages through delivering social, environmental, and economic value, and his holistic approach to sustainability has resulted in Henry Brothers becoming an industry leader in green business. Prior to becoming CR Director, Ian held the position of Contracts Director, where he was responsible for the effective management of contracts and commercial negotiations across all projects. Having worked in the construction industry since the age of 15, Ian is a Chartered Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Building and a member, and past Chair, of the Institute of Directors. Due to his commitment and influence on the economy in Northern Ireland, received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2023. Under Ian’s leadership, Henry Brothers successfully achieved the King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development in 2024.

Khalid Thabeth is a technology entrepreneur and engineering executive based in Northern Ireland, currently President and Chairman of Inov8 Systems Limited. Born in November 1962, he has spent over four decades in research and development, mainly developing revolutionary patented industrial and environmental water analysis technologies used worldwide in many industries, including, Oil & Gas, Municipal Water and other industries. Inov8 Systems was notably honoured with the King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation.

Rachael Weir is Head of Marketing at Vyta, a leading global provider of secure and sustainable IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) and IT Lifecycle Management services. With a background in PR, events and B2B marketing, she leads the company’s marketing strategy across the UK, Ireland and Europe, helping organisations navigate the challenges of managing end-of-life technology securely, sustainably and compliantly. Passionate about supporting businesses on their sustainability journeys, Rachael advocates for the role of the circular economy in technology, helping organisations maximise asset value, reduce waste and achieve their environmental goals through responsible IT lifecycle management.

Anne Beggs started her career in Irish linen exports before moving into economic development. Anne has over 25 years’ local and international experience in client-focussed roles in Invest Northern Ireland, during which she has assisted local start-ups & ambitious exporters, attracted & supported blue-chip multi-nationals, spearheaded strategic sector growth initiatives, and has driven collaboration with partners across the public & private sector. With notable achievements in pioneering the first Skills Academy, internationalising the region’s legal services sector and showcasing Northern Ireland’s compelling investment proposition & world-class products & services on the global stage, Anne draws on this breadth of experience in her current role as Chief Commercial Officer. Responsible for Invest NI’s Clients & Global Group, Anne provides strategic direction & leadership to Invest NI’s Client, Sector, Trade, Investment & Business Development teams in Northern Ireland and across its overseas network in the Americas, GB & Europe, APAC and IMEA to accelerate the growth of local businesses and to attract and grow foreign direct investment across all parts of Northern Ireland.
