This summer, explorers of all ages are invited to discover W5’s brand-new immersive experience, The Creatures of Phoenix Island.
Building on the roaring success of W5’s 2023 DRAGONS experience, which enticed over 125,000 visitors during its four-month residency, these fabled beasts are returning to Belfast’s award-winning science and discovery centre. Only this time, they’re not alone.
From 29 June – 31 August, adventurers can travel to Phoenix Island. A land lost in time. A land of fantasy. Home to giant talking trees, carnivorous plants, dragons, unicorns, and the legendary Phoenix itself. Get ready to journey through the mythical island and meet some of these incredible creatures in a magical new experience for the whole family.
Watch as these characters come to life before your very eyes through a breathtaking fusion of full-size animatronic figures, immersive soundscapes, scene settings, and large-scale projections in a unique experience like no other.
Commenting on the launch of The Creatures of Phoenix Island, Adrian Lutton, Head of Creative for W5, said: “Following the incredible public reaction that we received during our DRAGONS experience, we wanted to build upon this excitement and create an otherworldly adventure that explorers of all ages could embark on.
“This summer, we will transport our visitors to Phoenix Island. By combining full-size animatronics, immersive soundscapes and large-scale projections, we have brought to life a land of imagination. At W5, we strive to inspire curious minds and fire the spirit of discovery, regardless of age. Creating this fabled island in our AMAZE space allows visitors of all ages to unleash their imaginations and enjoy an experience like no other.”
Having opened its doors in March 2001, W5 has become known for deepening learning through immersive, hands-on play. Across four floors, visitors can explore everything from nature to optical illusions, medical science, engineering, and construction. Alongside its range of permanent exhibits, W5 also offers an extensive programme of seasonal exhibits and events for visitors to enjoy.
