Belfast Cathedral, the Home of Black Santa, plays a vital role in the community, serving as a place of worship, a cultural venue, and a symbol of the Belfast City’s heritage and is host to many civic events. To celebrate our 120th anniversary we are launching an ambitious 3 year fundraising campaign, BC120, which will generate new funding to secure the future viability of the Cathedral over the coming decades. The mission of ‘Preserving the Past, Building for the Future’ will underpin the strategy and actions of the Campaign. Belfast Cathedral provides valuable economic benefits to the region, boosting local businesses and helping in creating job opportunities. We are currently seeking up to three volunteers to join our new Belfast Cathedral Fundraising Sub Committee.
Ideally we are looking for individuals who can volunteer their time and skills for either half or a full day per month, July – December 2024. The commitment can be online / home based, there is no requirement to be based in the Cathedral. They would be working directly with the Fundraising Manger, with the primary purpose to assist in raising funds. The fundraising activity includes event planning and networking amongst Belfast businesses. It is important that all subcommittee members work closely with Cathedral stakeholders, including volunteers, the board of trustees, and the charity’s staff, to ensure that everyone is aligned with the charity’s goals and objectives and they will need to comply with the Charity Commission’s rules and regulations.
We envisage ideal candidates would need to know and love Belfast civic life, and or know and love the Cathedral and have translatable experience.
