Arthur Cox Managing Partner Lynsey Mallon Elected President of Belfast Chamber

Lynsey Mallon, Managing Partner of leading corporate law firm Arthur Cox, has been elected President of Belfast Chamber.

The appointment was announced at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the BT Riverside Tower building on Thursday. Lynsey, who leads Arthur Cox’s Corporate and Commercial Group in Northern Ireland, succeeds FinTrU CEO Darragh McCarthy following the completion of his successful one-year term as President.

Lynsey was Belfast Chamber Vice-President for the past year and is succeeded in that role by Belfast Harbour CEO Joe O’Neill. Lynsey has served on the Chamber board for a number of years, playing an active role in supporting the organisation’s work on behalf of the city’s business community.

Following her election as President, Lynsey said:

“I am honoured to take on the role of President of Belfast Chamber. Belfast is a city I am very proud to call home and, while I have had opportunities to live and work elsewhere, I chose to build my career and raise my family here because I believe in the potential of this city and in the people who make it what it is.

“As President of Belfast Chamber, my focus will be on championing opportunity, working with partners to help ensure that young people from every part of Belfast can access the skills, education and pathways they need to build successful futures. I want to ensure that the same opportunities that helped shape my life are available to young people from across our city.

“Through my role at Arthur Cox, I see first-hand the ambition, innovation and resilience that exists across Belfast’s economy. From entrepreneurial start-ups and family-owned businesses to major employers and international investors, every organisation has a role to play in shaping our future success.

“I look forward to working closely with Belfast Chamber members, partners, and stakeholders to help our city continue to grow and create lasting prosperity, while making Belfast an even better place to live, work, study and invest in.”

Lynsey’s election comes during a landmark year for Arthur Cox, which is celebrating 30 years in Belfast. Over the past three decades, the firm has played a significant role in Northern Ireland’s economic development, advising businesses, organisations and investors across local, national and international markets.

Congratulating Lynsey on her election, Belfast Chamber Chief Executive Clare Guinness said:

“Lynsey brings a wealth of experience, leadership and a commitment to supporting Belfast’s continued growth. Having served as Vice-President over the past year, she has already made a significant contribution to the Chamber and has demonstrated a strong passion for supporting businesses and communities across the city.

“Her focus on opportunity, skills development and social mobility aligns closely with Belfast Chamber’s ambitions for a thriving, inclusive and competitive city. I look forward to working alongside Lynsey as we continue to champion the interests of our members and strengthen Belfast’s position both locally and on the global stage.”

Thursday’s Belfast Chamber AGM was attended by almost 100 members, representing a wide spectrum of organisations across Belfast’s business community.
