Translink Team fill 2 buses in huge humanitarian effort for Ukraine

In response to the current crisis in Ukraine, Translink employees have come together to collect essential items, giving their support to the Ukraine Humanitarian Aid efforts.

Staff, in true ‘Translink Spirit’ seized the challenge and collected thousands of items that stuffed not one but two buses including a double decker.  Items are now due to be transported out to both Romania and Poland to help support those people impacted by the war in Ukraine.

Chris Conway, Translink Group Chief Executive said,

“The internal appeal was only open for two weeks. Once again, our staff have shown their generosity, compassion and determination to help those in need.  It has been overwhelming to see the collections coming in from colleagues right across Northern Ireland which has included a mix of baby goods, non-perishable food items, toiletries, pet food, clothes, bedding and warm blankets.  Many staff have also made monetary donations to different charities to support the crisis.

“I would like to thank everyone for their donations to this humanitarian aid and also acknowledge the significant efforts from everyone including the help from contractors GRAHAM and BDS that helped to coordinate and sort the items to get them to ready for onward distribution.

“We are very grateful to be working with the Belfast Intercultural Romanian Community together with the Honorary Romanian Consulate in NI and StopCar Transport in Mallusk who are arranging the transport to Romania and Poland and who have the necessary links in these countries to distribute the aid on the ground where it is needed most”.
