This event officially opens Mr. O’Neill’s new studio in Belfast City Centre. Having begun his art career in Belfast almost thirty years ago, O’Neill has had studios in the Brookfield Mill, Conway Mill, and in An Culturlann. His many public commissions can be seen locally and internationally. This move into the town represents both a homecoming after a long sojourn abroad, and a commitment both to his studio practice and to the regeneration of the City Centre. On display will be drawings, illustrations, sculptures in the round and in bas relief, sketchbooks, projections, work studio, and more. The artist came into the space via the Vacant to Vibrant scheme run by Belfast City Council and is grateful for the Council’s support. O’Neill looks forward to a successful venture, and the studio becoming a cub for creatives, members of the business community, and those actively involved in urban regeneration.
