Since its inception in 2000, Clarity Telecom has grown to have a greater engineering capability than any other independent telecommunications company in Northern Ireland, and we are now rolling out our leading ByPhone VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system throughout the UK and Ireland.

Q: What is your business?
The provision of engineering led communication solutions to businesses in Northern Ireland.
Q: How did you get into this business?
In 2000 I was unimpressed with some of the service levels and engineering standards in the telecoms industry. As a business owner I understood the importance of delivering quality service and I was convinced that it could be done better and so I started Clarity Telecom with the aim of providing businesses in Belfast/ Northern Ireland an alternative to what the industry was offering. Since then we have invested in communication engineering specialists. Almost one third of our staff are now specialist engineers.

A staff of 42 and growing
Q: Who are your customers?
Mid Antrim Council, RSM, accountants, BDO accountants, Action Cancer, Andras House Group.
Q: How has business been for you over the past few years?
Excellent, the growth in VoIP technology has provided a lot of customers with the ability to upgrade their communications services, improving the way their businesses work.
Q: What needs to change in Belfast/NI to allow you (and others) to do better business?
What is really needed is more access to fibre broadband. There are still a number of businesses in Belfast and Northern Ireland that are using ADSL broadband. With access to Fibre a business can achieve greater efficiencies and start accessing cloud based service such a Hosted Telephony, Office 365, Sage, cloud storage etc.
Q: Have you any exciting plans for your business over the next 12 months?
Yes we are hoping to treble the number of users on our business phone system in the Cloud. This involves substantial expansion into GB
