HLM selected to exhibit at the RIAI Conference 2021

HLM Architects has been selected to exhibit the Altnagelvin Acute Hospital - North Wing development in the ‘Wellbeing’ category at The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) Conference in November 2021.

The project is one of 32 chosen for exhibition by the jury at this year’s RIAI Awards, which celebrates high-quality work produced by RIAI members and acknowledges the contribution registered architects make to the industry.

The scheme, which was originally due to finish in June 2020 but completed three months ahead of schedule to cope with rising demand for hospital space during the pandemic, will showcase the keys elements of design including: the development of a granite-clad main entrance which creates a unique identity for the site, the formation of new hospital streets to create a better flow throughout the building, and the creation of a green corridor that links to the main entrance, which has been landscaped to create an open and welcoming environment.

Nicola McKay, Belfast and Dublin Studio Director, commented: “Making the exhibition list is a great achievement and a prime example of the hard work and dedication of our team. We’re extremely proud of what this development has been able to achieve over the last year and this recognition reflects that.”

The Altnagelvin Acute Hospital – North Wing also featured as part of the online RIAI Awards Exhibition 2021, alongside all of the shortlisted award entries and selected for exhibition projects, which can be seen here.

The Conference programme is set to be announced within the next few weeks.
