Herbert Smith Freehills Partner Promotion in Belfast – Lyn Harris

Lyn Harris has been made Partner at the Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) Belfast office. Lyn joined Herbert Smith Freehills in 2012 and she is the third partner to be promoted in ALT.
Born and raised in Belfast, prior to joining the firm, Lyn was a long-standing, leading litigation and employment Partner in a prominent Northern Ireland law firm – having trained and qualified locally following completion of her Bachelor of Laws degree at Queen’s University Belfast.
Lyn has a unique role leading the Disputes and Legal Technology teams across the UK, US & EMEA straddles law and technology and this blend of expertise has enabled her to work with the firm’s Disputes practice group in offering clients hybrid solutions for contentious legal work particularly where large volumes of data require strategic management. Lyn is a creative and dynamic leader and despite the enduring challenges presented by Covid and remote working, Lyn has helped to lead and deliver significant growth across the Disputes practice in UK, US, and EMEA for ALT.
Following a number of years’ successful leadership of Belfast Disputes practice, in 2015, Lyn led the globalisation of ALT’s Disputes offering – growing it to deliver seamlessly from multiple hubs across the globe, alongside integrating an in-house eDiscovery & Legal Technology function as part of the offering.
In 2019, Lyn was responsible for the development and launch of ALT in New York, and in 2020, Lyn assumed leadership responsibility for ALT in Johannesburg.
In 2022, Lyn was shortlisted for two nationally-important awards – as Innovator Leader in LegalWeek’s Women, Influence and Power in Law Awards, and as Innovation Trailblazer at LegalWeek’s Innovation Awards.
In her role as Partner, Lyn will continue to lead ALT in the US and EMEA, and to develop and grow the Disputes practice across the UK, US and EMEA. Lyn’s promotion reflects Herbert Smith Freehills on-going commitment to Northern Ireland. The Belfast office remains ALT’s single-largest hub within the global network.
