Mary’s Meals is a global charity established in 2002, that sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.
Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.
Working together with those who share our vision, we believe there is no good reason why this cannot be realised.
Low Frills Charity
Our feeding programmes are community-run and would not function without our dedicated volunteers worldwide. Wherever possible, we buy produce in bulk in the country from local farmers, thereby supporting the local economy. This approach enables us to keep our running costs low and we ensure that at least 93% of all donations are spent on charitable activities.
- The average global cost of feeding a child for a whole school year is just £15.90
- The worldwide cost per meal is 8p .
Our mission is to enable people to offer their money, goods, skills, time, or prayer to support our mission. If you are looking for a new challenge- why not help us to raise awareness and funds in your local community for our life-changing work? This could be through employer supported volunteer days/fundraisers or as an individual in your spare time. Activities could include public speaking in a wide range of community settings, distributing printed materials, bucket collections, organising and running fundraising events or completing a sponsored fitness challenge. However, we are always open to new ideas! Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
