Belfast Chamber of Trade & Commerce has today awarded Spanish clothing and accessories retailer, Zara, with a highly coveted President’s Recognition Award. The global chain, which counts Royalty as a loyal fan, has been recognised for their ‘investment in the city’ and for their exceptional re fit and extension of their flagship Belfast store.
Paul McMahon, President, Belfast Chamber of Trade & Commerce said: “I am delighted to have Zara as a leading retailer in our city. Their extendedstore on Royal Avenue is an outstanding example of leading class retail design and fit out.
“Everything from the materials used tothe store  layout, lighting , product and merchandising, exudes world class. The store is not only enticing but functional and gives a real international vibe to the city, and is testament that the future is looking bright for Belfast.”
The newly design Belfast store opened in April 2015 and added a further 500 square metres, adding jobs and boosting the range of its ever-popular womenswear section as well as clothing lines for men and children.
Zara was founded in Spain in 1975. It is the flagshipchain store of the Inditex group, which is one of the world's largest fashion retailers with eight brands and over 6,460 stores throughout the world.
Sylvie Moroz, Manager of Zara said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. The decision to redesign and fit out the store was an excellent one and we are reaping the benefits daily.
“Belfast is now one of our top performing stores and we hope to mirror the concept across the UK and beyond.
“To be recognised by the Chamber is further endorsement that this is the future for Zara and we look forward to working with them more closely in the future.”
Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce’s monthly President’s Awards seek to identify a number of different businesses from their membership who have actively contributed to the economy of the country as a whole. The awards take into consideration a number of factors, from driving footfall to the city to marketing excellence to being an excellent ambassador to visitors.
 
Those eligible for the prestigious recognition, include all Chamber members from all business sectors in a range of categories, from customer service excellence, investment into the city, footfall driver through to marketing excellence.
