Belfast Chamber of Trade & Commerce has today awarded independent jewellery retailer, Argento, with a highly coveted President’s Recognition Award. The local, homegrown business has been recognised for their ‘investment in the city’ and for their achievements as a fast-growing business enjoying continued success in Northern Ireland and beyond.

Paul McMahon, President, Belfast Chamber of Trade & Commerce said: “Argento is an excellent example of a local company which is excelling, not only in Belfast, and in neighbouring towns and cities but also across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

“Their investment into their Belfast store on Royal Avenue has to be commended. It is not only aesthetically pleasing, on both the inside and out, but also the layout of the shop showcases some of the best store design in the city.”

Paul concluded, “The business also has to be recognised for its effort and creative flair over the Christmas period, the lights and decorations ensured it stood out on the street drawing customers and contributing to the overall buzz in Belfast.”

Argento was set-up by local entrepreneur, Pete Boyle in 1997, who started his career selling jewellery from a street mall. Today, Argento has 27 stores and 9 Pandora shops and has the fastest growing online jewellery department store in the UK and Ireland.

Peter Boyle, owner of Argento said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this award. 2014 was a big year for Argento, we designed a new layout and invested it across all our stores. We moved our head office to above the Royal Avenue store, which was an investment for the next five years.”

Peter concluded: “2015 is already looking extremely busy for us, as we have six store refits in the new style and a new Holywood store opening to look forward to.”

Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce’s monthly President’s Awards seek to identify a number of different businesses from their membership who have actively contributed to the economy of the country as a whole. The awards take into consideration a number of factors, from driving footfall to the city to marketing excellence to being an excellent ambassador to visitors.

Those eligible for the prestigious recognition, include all Chamber members from all business sectors in a range of categories, from customer service excellence, investment into the city, footfall driver through to marketing excellence.
